Philosophy
To Achieve “True Greatness” or “Mastery” as a musician studying percussion, there are Five things you need: A Great Attitude, Passion, Commitment, Sacrifice, and a Hard Work Ethic.

Classes
Members of the percussion studio take a one-hour private lesson each week and participate in a group studio class on Fridays from 10:30am-12:00pm. These musicians also form the core membership of the Percussion Ensemble which meets on Tuesday & Thursday from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Drumline Class is offered every semester on Fridays from 2:30pm-5:30pm. For music majors studying percussion, each semester concludes with a final “jury” performance exam for a panel of music faculty. Students celebrate their achievements with a public recital during the last semester of their degree program.

Instruments
South Texas College provides the primary percussion instruments – i.e. Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Chimes, Timpani, Drum Set, Orchestral Snare, Marching Percussion & And More! All Percussion Majors are required to purchase books, sticks, mallets, and percussion accessories every semester.
